
Duties of the Court Clerk
Primary Responsibilities of the Court Clerk:

Record and Maintain Court Proceedings:
-
Record, file, and maintain District Court proceedings
-
Maintain trial dockets, case files, and journals
-
Keep summaries of court actions in an appearance docket
-

Financial Duties:
-
Collect court fees, fines, costs, assessments, and forfeitures
-
Distribute or expend collected monies
-
-
Issuance of Legal Documents:
-
Issue legal warrants, subpoenas, orders, processes, and writes
-
Issue marriage licenses, beer and pool hall licenses, and other county licenses
-
Some Clerks also issue passports
-

Juror and Witness Records:
-
Keep records of all jurors and witnesses in the District Court
-

Collaboration and Custodianship:
-
Work with the County Sheriff’s office in delivering process warrants
-
Act as custodian of the County Law Library if required
-

Administration of Oaths:
-
Administer oaths for County Commissioners in condemnation cases
-
Administer oaths for passport applicants
-
-
Reporting Duties:
-
Make regular reports and provide statistical and other information to the Board of County Commissioners and the Administrative Office of the Courts
-
Submit various monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
